Our Story

The Jolly Shire is a lovingly restored horsebox owned by Christian and Nicola that met back in 2013 while working in the industry and continuing to do so until now. After having children they realised that they wanted to do something that was more flexible to suit there growing family and decided that they wanted stay in an industry they knew and loved but on there own terms. 

After some thought and hard work The Jolly Shire was born in 2021, an old horsebox that has been restored to an exceptionally high standard ready to fulfil the refreshment needs of any event. 

Our aim is to provide a fun, quirky, unique, professional service of exceptionally high standards to your event and try and relieve any stress or extra work up to your event and on the day that we possibly can.

FAQ

The venue, the food, the invites, there’s a lot to consider when planning a wedding, corporate event or any other event you may be having, and with so many vendors to choose from, the team at The Jolly Shire aims to make deciding them a bit easier. We’ve put together some frequently asked questions that our customers usually request, to ensure you have the information you need about our Mobile Bar.

Yes we have public liability of £10 million

Depending on your event you may need a temporary events notice, we can take care of this for you and usually is straight forward. You will always have a personal alcohol license holder on site as well.

So depending on your needs we can provide the bar with a few different setups these will range from a width of 2.3m, a height of 2.9m and a length of 5.4 to 8.5.

We can provide almost any drink that you request as our suppliers have a very extensive range of stock this will be discussed and agreed at the time of booking.

Yes you most certainly can, we do keep a number of different props and flowers for different events and themes but if you have a specific theme for your event you are more then welcome to dress us up as long as it does not cause a hazard or restrict our work space we are more then happy.

Yes unfortunately we do, this is to protect us against any potential loss of earnings. We require a £500 deposit £250 of which to be payed to secure your booking and the remaining £250 to be payed no less then 6 months before your event. Dependant on your numbers this will contribute towards your minimum spend if you have not requested a prepaid bar and this will all be agreed at the time of booking. The deposit is fully refundable up to 3 months prior to the event after this period we will retain 50% of the deposit and if cancelled less then 1 month prior the full 100% will be retained.

If your event is cancelled for reasons we believe to be out of your control we will allow you to reschedule your event with the deposit but the deposit will be permanently retained until a minimum spend is met.

Usually for most events we find 2 possibly 3 should be enough to cater for a party up to 250 guests, if your event is expected to receive larger numbers then this please let us know and we will make sure we are equipped with enough staff, we have had 7 comfortably working the bar before for numbers in excess of 5000 guests as the sole bar at the event but with a set menu.

Our staff will always be dressed to impress whether that be shirt and waste coat or fancy dress, whatever you would like the staff to be dressed in we will always try to accommodate within reason.

Yes we can accept most cards and do not charge a transaction fee. 

This all depends on your local licensing authority and/or the venue. This will all be discussed when booking but trust us when we say we have known how to party all night long and wouldn't want want to stop your fun any earlier then we have to.

We try and stay competitively priced no matter what event we are at. Generally a beer is going to cost you anything from £3.50 to £5.50, spirits and wines around £4 to £6 a glass. We can supply cocktails and other specialist drinks at your request and prices can be discussed prior to booking with the option of creating packages as well.

We currently serve in a recyclable plastic but are in talks with a company to provide biodegradable for us soon. We can also offer glassware at an additional cost if the venue allows or we can provide personalised cups for everyone at your party as a keepsake.   

We prefer to run of a mains socket but if this is not possible we can supply a generator.
